Yorkshires Rudding Park Hotel Voted Britains Best

A luxury hotel in North Yorkshire has been voted the best in the UK by travellers from around the globe.

Rudding Park, near Harrogate, came first in the top 25 UK hotels list complied by online travel company TripAdvisor, with visitors praising its "faultless service".

The 50-room hotel, which includes a holiday park and an 18-hole golf course, also came sixth in the Tripadvisor list of the best luxury hotels in the world.

Rudding Park chairman Simon Mackaness said: "This is a phenomenal achievement and I am delighted that Rudding Park is favoured so highly among our guests."

"To be voted number one in the UK and to be rated number six among the world's best hotels is an accomplishment we have aspired to since purchasing Rudding Park 30 years ago."

"I would like to thank everyone who has helped to bring Rudding Park such astounding recognition."

Second place in the list of the top 25 British hotels was awarded to The Manor Coach House in Worcester, which also came second in Europe's best bargain hotel list.

Boskerris Hotel in St Ives, Cornwall, was voted the third best hotel in the UK, while Can-y-Bae in Llandudno, North Wales, came fourth and the Charterhouse in Torquay, Devon, fifth.

While a total of eight hotels in Devon and Cornwall made it into the top 25 UK hotels list, there was no place for any of London’s hotels .

Commenting on the surprise absence of a London establishment, TripAdvisor's European marketing vice-president Alison Copus said: "With the Olympics just two years away it's worrying not to see a single London hotel in the top 25 UK list."

"Come 2012 all eyes will be on our capital city and London hotels are clearly going to have to raise their game to make sure they provide world-class accommodation ."

The Tripadvisor annual Travellers' Choice awards recognise the best hotels in the world across a number of categories, and are based on millions of online reviews from international travellers.
